Summer Game Fest
Dozens of Ontario game studios took to the global stage at Summer Game Fest in Los Angeles, participating in both virtual and in-person events to show off new projects and make announcements:
- Torn Banner acquires Lever Games, announces No More Room in Hell 2 at PC Gaming Show!
- Capy announces Battle Vision Network at Day of the Devs!
- Massive Damage (Fera: The Sundered Tribes), Finish Line Games (Robots at Midnight), and Lofty Sky Entertainment (Sky of Tides) featured at Summer Game Fest’s Play Days demo station in LA!
- Game Pill’s Hangry demo featured as part of IGN Live in LA!
- Rocket Adrift (Psychroma), Mighty Yell (All Systems Dance), Black Tabby Games (Slay the Princess: The Pristine Cut), Sticky Brain Studios (Rooster), and Cococucumber (Echo Generation: Midnight Edition) announce games, unveil trailers, and release dates at Glitch’s Future of Play direct.
- Sticky Brain’s Rooster was also featured in the Wholesome Games showcase, while Cococucumber’s Echo Generation featured in the Guerrilla Collective’s On-Line & On-Site events!
Canadian Screen Awards Winners
Ontario-based video game and immersive studios took home the top game prizes at the 2024 Canadian Screen Awards in May.
- Toronto’s Visai Games won the Best Video Game award for Venba
- Toronto’s Cream Productions won the Best Immersive Experience – Fiction for Survivorman VR

Toronto Games Week, XP Game Summit, IO Connect and more!
With dozens of in-person and online events taking place, June is officially the busiest time on the Ontario games industry calendar. Interactive Ontario’s Indie Superboost Marketing & Discoverability Bootcamp kicks off an action-packed week on June 11th that includes IO’s annual Impact Forum (June 12) – a policy forum bringing together IO leadership, members, and key stakeholders to discuss advocacy priorities for the Ontario video game and XR sector – the two-day XP Game Summit (June 13-14) – the largest B2B conference of its kind in Canada – the annual IO Connect Summer Mixer (June 13), and the second Toronto Games Week (June 13-19) – a city-wide celebration of playable arts and culture that includes meetups, demos, screenings, installations, dance parties, and more!
